DIANA PRINCESS OF WALES - QUEEN OF
HEARTS
She will be remembered for her
beauty, her shy demeanor, yet strength of character, ready smile,
outstretched hand, public persona, fashion savvy, etc. She was Diana
of the hunt; Diana of the chase; Moon Goddess-our Goddess! She
mesmerized us with her sparkling blue eyes, the way she scooped people
up in her arms; they dying, children, the poor, the wretched…and
pulled them to her as though absorbing their essence! What profound
lessons of human values and compassion we were witnessing! Through her
own pain, her gift to the world was to elevate its consciousness to
these virtues! Therefore, I depict her adorned with flowers, not
jewels…She loved flowers, she loved the people and they always
showed her their love with flowers! She embraces them here as they
flow into her heart. Her beloved sons sit upon her fingertips…Her
loving hands will carry and protect them throughout their lives. She
loved them so and never failed in her most important roles as a
mother.
The butterfly upon her shoulder
represents transformation, not just from life to death, but in all the
roles she had to play in this most demanding earthly sojourn. We go
from day to night, indicating transition. The Angels hover, reach
down, help her over, as she ascends steps of light, transcending her
island of repose in the background. Her face is framed in a huge white
rose-England's Rose! She looks us straight in the eye; she beams, for
she knows, at last, who she is!
Elton John sits at his piano across
the water and there upon his piano stands the lone candle… In the
wind…How perfect!
Spirit came to me very strongly, just
after her death and told me I must paint her! Not being a portrait
artist, I viewed this as a tall order but one from which I absolutely
could NOT turn away! I cried often as she took form on my canvas,
occasionally sobbing uncontrollably and having to leave her. At times
it was as if I was birthing her anew! I came to know she understood
her mission here on earth; that for which she was truly sent and that
for which she would truly be remembered… Not for her riches, her
finery, her royal rompings…Not for any of that! She went straight to
our hearts in her interview some years ago when asked if she thought
she could be the queen of peoples' hearts.
She replied with total conviction,
faith, valor and candor… "I don't think I can, I know I can"
For THAT she will be remembered! For
that she will always be loved! All the wealth and privilege this life
bestowed upon her had little to do with why we grieved her passing,
nor did any of it keep her from passing. The LOVE she had for people
will keep her alive and endeared to us and keep her from ever slipping
away from our memories. We must carry on from where she left off; Much
need and pain remains, much love still needed! Her spirit and the
Angels guide us from the other side; They bid us continue her good
works of love and courage; reach out, carry on! By honoring her in
this way, we give her short life greater meaning…and so…she will
live in our hearts forever!
